Firstly, happy belated new year everyone from all at Girling Jones!
This year, the team decided that they wanted to do a BIG challenge – really pushing themselves, so signed up for the CHSW Ride for Precious Lives 2013. Yes, it’s a big challenge and yes it will be hard work, but in retrospect, actually very little to put themselves through in relation to the amount of money they can make for such an incredible cause as CHSW.
This incredible 200 mile bike ride takes place during Friday 7th – Sunday 9th June 2013. The three day ride takes the cyclists from Cornwall to Bristol via the 3 children’s hospices; Little Harbour near St Austell, Little Bridge House near Barnstaple and Charlton Farm near Bristol.
Team GJ – a strong team of 6 – all of “varying” fitness levels have already commenced in some light training however the real graft starts in February where they plan to go out on at least one 25 mile bike ride a week plus additional fitness training off the back of this. The key over the 3 days will be endurance, so their training will encompass this, hopefully allowing them to understand their limits and break fitness barriers they never thought possible!
Here is where you come in…..the team have just over 5 months to raise as much money as possible and need YOUR HELP! Please follow the link below and donate as little or as much as you can. Share with your friends, family and colleagues. It really does make such a difference. Thanks people!
Well, it’s finally the end of the 2012, and what a year it has been for Team GJ!
In the Spring they had a steady start, putting all of their efforts into the year ahead; the Summer saw GJ sponsor and attend the Commercial Property Awards; the Autumn was the season where they successfully completed the dreaded Commando Challenge; and finally the Winter has seen GJ ending on a high, beating their Office Quarterly Target, which of course was celebrated in style with the end of year Christmas Bash last week!
The team have also welcomed 3 new consultants on board which has been fantastic as the GJ business has grown across the South West at a phenomenal rate this year.
So….. what’s in store for 2013?? Team GJ have several events planned next year, both work related and charity related, all of which see exciting times ahead – keep checking in to make sure you don’t miss out!
Finally, the team would like to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and look forward to a new year with new challenges and greater success in 2013!
On one fine sunny morning earlier this month, Girling Jones arrived at Woodbury Common to take part in the dreaded 10k Marine Commando Challenge.
After nearly 2 hours of running, jumping, crawling, climbing and (to some extent!) swimming, Team GJ crossed the finish line exhausted but pleased to have completed the gruelling challenge.
More importantly though, they managed to raise just over £1000 for their charity of choice, Children’s Hospice South West which is fantastic news!
Finally, a huge thank you from the team to everyone who sponsored and, as promised, please find some evidence from the “day of hell” below….
Girling Jones spent a day earlier this month at the Go Ape venue in Exeter as part of their monthly team building event.
For those who are unaware, Go Ape is an outdoor pursuits venue which runs 28 Tree Top adventure courses in forests in England, Scotland and Wales consisting of rope ladders, zip-lines, rope bridges, trapezes and swings.
All in all, great fun as you can see from the select few photos which have been chosen to view below.
Girling Jones Ltd are currently putting in all of their efforts into raising money for an amazing cause by running, climbing and generally “beasting” their way through a 10k assault course in Exeter on 6th October of this year, otherwise known as the Commando Challenge.
The Challenge itself comprises of a 3K road run, 4K obstacle cross country run and then a 3K road run back to the finish at Bicton Arena.
As below, all proceeds with be going to their charity of choice, Children’s Hospice South West. You can copy and paste the below link into your browser to check out thier fundraising page and, of course, any donations will be gratefully received.
